Hailing from Philadelphia, New Wave of Traditional American Heavy Metal band Corners of Sanctuary (COS) formed in 2011 with a desire to bring back the sounds of Classic Heavy Metal.
Corners of Sanctuary has performed across the US, in Europe and the UK with many notable artists including: Saxon, Anvil, Stryper, U.D.O., Butcher Babies, Grim Reaper, Saving Abel, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Tracii Guns, Enuff ‘Z Nuff, Tantric, Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), Black Lodge, Don Jamieson, Blaze Bayley, Green Jello, Act of Defiance, Britny Fox, Bulletboys, Last in Line, Janet Gardner (Vixen), Jackie Chambers (Girlschooll), Sponge, Trapt, the Iron Maidens, Teeze/Roughhouse and Damon Johnson among others.
2012 marked the release of their debut album “Breakout”. Being well received, “Breakout” was quickly followed up by “Harlequin”, which released in 2013 with Pure Steel Records in Germany. Later that same year, their third album “Axe to Grind” released under La Mazakuata Records in Mexico. In 2014, Pure Steel Records re-released “Axe to Grind” in Europe. In 2015, COS signed with Metalizer Records in Germany for the release of the album “Metal Machine”. Mastered by Death Dealer guitarist and producer Stu “The Hammer” Marshall, “Metal Machine” was met with critical acclaim worldwide.
In 2018 COS released “The Galloping Hordes” on Killer Metal Records (Germany). The album was mastered by legendary producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, W.A.S.P., Armored Saint, Fates Warning). 2018 also had COS completing a tour in Europe and a second US West Coast tour. The band has begun work on their next album “Heroes Never Die,” slated to release in 2020. In 2019 COS had supported Bulletboys, Grim Reaper, Blaze Bayley, Last in Line, Janet Gardner and the Iron Maidens and performed at the legendary Whiskey A Go-Go.
Before 2019 came to a close, COS released three EPs: “Hold onto Christmas,” “Metal Brigade (7” vinyl) and “What We Leave Behind.”
COS signed with RFL Records (US) in June 2020 and released the album, “Heroes Never Die,” that October 2020. In 2021, COS released “Blood and Steel: volumes one and volume two” and the album ”Fight Till the End” on digital, CD and Vinyl platforms along with their annual Holiday package. As well things began to open up in 2021, COS worked with Faster Pussycat, the Three Tremors, Enuff Z Nuff and appeared again at the Whisky A Go Go with Kill Devil Hill.
2022 had the band performing with Canedy, Doyle, Tantric, the Iron Maidens, Trapt and an appearance at SonarFest. Following the success of releasing their first cover song with Def Leppard’s “Mirror, Mirror,” COS released the tribute EP titled “Defying”. Also in 2022 COS released their second best of compilation titled “Metal Never Dies.
In 2023 the band had released an extended, EP, “This is Metal,” which included a cover of the Judas Priest classic, “Breaking the Law.” COS performed shows with Enuff Z Nuff, Spread Eagle, Sponge and Mike Tramp plus performances at SonarFest 2023 and a returned to the UK that April. COS signed with SODEH Records in late Spring and released the EP, “Taking Cover” in August, which produced two chart hit songs, “Crazy Horses,” reaching #25 and “Inside Out,” charting at #68 on the World Indie Charts Top 100. COS’ 2023 holiday single “Get on the List” also charted on the World Indie Top 100 and was followed by their 2024 single “Hunter Prey.” 2025 marks the release of the EP, Forever Metal, new single, “Never count Me Out,” and the 10 year anniversary of the release of Metal Machine.
